So...since March 31st which seems to be my last time here...

Went to DC and New York for a week with the 8th grade trip. Our school takes the 8th graders to the two places and sees most of the things one is supposed to see when in those locales. Been to both before but only drove through NY with Leslie, accidentally, back in the '80's. We were on our way to Conn. and chose to drive through Manhattan. Another story for another time.

This trip to DC we visited two new sights for me - the National Cathedral and the Holocaust Museum. Great stops.

New York was all new to me because, again, the previous trip was just a lengthy car ride through the city. We saw a play, Little Mermaid, on Broadway, Times Square, Central Park, rode the Staten Island ferry by the Statue of Liberty, ate at some "famous" local joints, visited Chinatown, rode the subway, bunch of other things.

I went on the trip as a chaperone. Caleb is in 8th grade and being on the trip with him was wonderful.

Power-washed the fence. This is outstanding in no way other than I sort of enjoyed watching the black grime come of and seeing the clean wood underneath.

Teaching a Sunday morning class at Richland Hills Church of Christ for the month of May. Sort of a visiting teacher thing going on.

At school...

The "senior prank" is over and was rather uncreative. Moved the furniture and put stinky stuff around. Extraordinary only in that the stink was worse than normal.

Some kids lovingly put fruit loops, toilet paper, flour, and q-tips all over the front yard. Oh, to catch them in the act one time.

A kid told me the other day that she had decided her own consequence for an issue at school, had completed the consequence which was to write 50 sentences (which is absurd on so many levels), and then told me I could not punish her because that would be double jeopardy. I told her she better walk out and come back and try again.

Tomorrow, we ride. Going to Oklahoma City for some Big XII baseball.

Hey Brian, Sounds like a great trip. I'm glad you and Caleb got to do that together.
What topic are you teaching at R.H.?
