Tonight we gathered at the College Hill Church of Christ for Fort Worth Christian School's kindergarten graduation.

Jeb, our six year old, graduated after a wonderful year in Mrs. Whaley's classroom.

The program tonight included songs sung by all of the kindergarten children. Songs like "Blue Skies and Rainbows", "The Crayon Song", "Apple Red Happiness", "1 John 3:16", and the Fort Worth Christian School song.

When Jeb's name was called, he walked up to the principal, Dr. Sarah Schecter, and she said that his fruit of the Spirit was goodness, as chosen by Mrs. Whaley. Then Dr. Schecter told what each child wanted to be when he/she grew up. To laughter and applause, she said that Jeb wanted to be the president of the United States.

Besides our immediate family, Leslies parents were in attendance and Barry Jackson, a great friend of ours from College Station who stopped by on his way to Oklahoma City to see the Aggies play in the Big XII baseball tournament.

On the way home, all of us stopped at the nation's number one convenience store - QuikTrip - to get a celebratory drink. QuikTrip is superior to all others because of the drink selection including Rooster Booster, its quick service, the lack of problems with the pumps, and the cheapest gas.

Jeb says that as president the first two things he would do would be to "ask questions" and "help people."

Sounds like a good plan.

We have pears on a tree in the backyard. I bought and planted the tree two years back not knowing that pears would grow. Fruitless, I thought. I wonder now if they are edible. I could try and eat one. Be like the pioneers who would eat some food not knowing whether it would taste good or not, nourish or make sick.

Huey Lewis was born in 1950. Sometime this year he will be fifty-seven. On television, we watched him last night sing "I Want A New Drug." I think he is in the minority of fifty-seven year olds. Singing. On stage. A song with the word "drug" in it.

This summer we are going to South Dakota with my family. Mount Rushmore. Maybe Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, Wall Drug Store, the Badlands. Also, Leslie, the kids, and I will go to Austin for a long weekend. Caleb will go to Little Rock on a mission trip. Erin and Caleb will go to E - Camp near Tyler, Texas, and while C and E are there Leslie and I will take Jeb to San Antonio's Sea World and zoo for some time just with Jeb, our youngest. Caleb and I, with some friends, will go to Omaha, Nebraska, for a portion of the College World Series. It would be an extra sweet trip if the Aggies were there but a great event nonetheless. Come November it is Walt Disney World to which we have never been.

About one week left for the senior prank to take place. Crunch time. They have to be feeling the pressure to get it accomplished.

Two Tramps In Mud Time. Robert Frost.

As Garrison Keillor says, "Be well. Do good work, and keep in touch."

I have mentioned Peggy Noonan here before. She wrote a piece for the Wall Street Journal dated Friday, April 27th, that is a worthy read about how we are scaring our children. You will have to look at the author archive to get it. The Drudge Report has a link to Peggy Noonan in the lower portion of the webpage.

On godtube.com search for "That's My King." Watch the video.

I know. If I learned to do links then this would all be easier.

No successful senior prank, so far. Though one of the seniors tried to hide out in the library after hours with the idea, a good idea, that it would be easier to open the doors to the school from the inside than from the outside. Another thwarted plan thanks to another student and to the inability of the hiding student to stay hidden.
