My first introduction to Dan Fogelberg was during high school. Some good friends of mine starting listening to songs from the albums Home Free and Captured Angel. I liked them.

I, we (Leslie and I) purchased each album. We didn't wait in longing expectation for a release, but once we heard there was one we stopped by somewhere and bought it.

My first of several Fogelberg concerts was at Mud Island in Memphis, Tennessee. A bunch of us from Harding traveled over for a concert right after he put our a country album called "High Country Snows."

Other concerts. Leslie and I saw him at Starplex in Dallas with Matt and Laura Waldron. At the Majestic Theatre, also in Dallas. At the Woodlands Pavillion near Houston. At some other smaller venue in Houston with Barry Jackson, I think, and some others. Maybe Ron Curtis.
We saw him alone and with a band.

Little opinions:

A great song that I heard only once live and never on the radio was "Joy At The Start." This was later sung by Susan Ashton and a couple of other Christian singers.

Another was "Sweet Magnolia Bell."

Best popular song, one that got some play, was "Make Love Stay."

The most haunting one was "Tucson, Arizona."

Overall favorite and never a hit, "Souvenirs."

Best album - "Souvenirs" 2nd Best - "Innocent Age."

The images above were taken at DisneyWorld. One was with the 3-D glasses from one of the shows. The other is from Expedition Everest, the most recent attraction added at Animal Kingdom.

This trip was somewhat atypical for us since our usual travel pattern contains multiple locations with one or two nights stay. For example, our trip to California a couple of summers was:

One night in Midland.
One night in Tucson.
Two nights in San Diego.
One night at Venice Beach.
One night in near Ventura.
One night at Big Sur State Park.
One night east of Monterey.
Two nights in Yosemite.
One night in Las Vegas.
One night in Flagstaff.
One night in Amarillo.

Sort of like the commercial - Midsondiegoreygasstaff.

So this was:

One night in Mobile
Five nights in Orlando.
One night in Vicksburg.

Or Molanburg.

We will not visit again soon though it was a blessing to go and thoroughly enjoyable.

On to the next place.

Top Ten Things To Do In No Particular Order With Comments

1. EPCOT, which started out as an acronym for something, has the World Showcase area. We visited twice, once and night and once during the day so as to see better. Italy was our favorite.

2. Expedition Everest. A rollercoaster. However, the rides at Disney are not scary, thrill scary. There are big on show and drama. This was hailed as a great ride and it was very enjoyable. The Abominable Snowman makes an appearance.

3. Kilimanjaro Safari. A ride through a zoo. We liked it. Animal Kingdom was very crowded the day we went. The Kingdom really should be enjoyed with a slow walk and it was hard to walk slow because the few attractions that we wanted to do were in such demand that a frenetic pace was kept just to try to do them without a two hour wait.

4. FastPass. Visit the FastPass tickets dispensers. It was crucial to our enjoyment. Essentially, you get a ticket to show back up at a predetermined time and can avoid the long lines, for the most part.

5. Go back to your hotel room. We made it a point to leave rather early and then came back to the hotel everyday at noonish. Stayed for a couple of hours. Swam. Napped. Then headed back out. This made the day and evening so much more enjoyable.

6. Test Track. This was Jeb's favorite ride. It is at EPCOT.

7. Tower of Terror. Essentially a drop machine thingy from 13, 14 stories. The set-up/drama is a lot of the ride. Jeb, our 7 year old rode it, so it wasn't that scary though he screamed during it constantly and refused to get back on it. However, I think that was because that was as much about the scary setting as it was the ride itself. Again, Disney does drama/set-up/special effects very well.

8. Any light shows. Fantasmic at MGM and Illuminations at EPCOT. We ended two separate days with these shows. Illuminations is the better one.

9. Eat a big, warm, salty pretzel. This isn't specific to Disney though they had them. You should get one of these whenever, wherever, you can.

10. Space Mountain. We rode it twice. It is in the dark. Was my favorite ride. All of us rode it. All of us rode everything that was ridden.

Bonus Thing Not To Do

Stitch's Great Escape. Essentially they lock you in these seats to hear and see a gross show with Stitch spitting into the audience. There was a lady taking feedback about the ride when we exited. I was hoping that she would ask me, but she didn't.
